Mentoring Opportunities

Suzie Farthing, Vanessa White and Sherer Farlardeau

The inception of OLNM’s nurse mentorship program began last September with students from the University of West Florida and eight RN mentors. One of the students who participated in the program is Vanessa White who shares her experience with the program:

“I was pretty skeptical coming into the 12 week program with One Love Nursing Ministries, but I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect to learn anything that I didn't already know, but I ended up discovering how little I did know. I learned so much more about what to expect in the nursing workforce and how to deal with common difficulties that new nurses everywhere encounter everyday. I've discovered my own fears and doubts upon entering this field and I now feel relieved that I'm not the first to feel as I do. The lessons that I have learned will stick with me throughout my nursing career and with these lessons in mind I hope to become a better nurse than I ever thought I could be.”

The OLNM nurse mentorship program is going to kick back up in the  fall of this year.  Keep checking our website-onelovefornurses.org for future details.

If you are interested in participating in our program as a mentor or mentee in the fall, please contact Suzie at suzie@onelovefornurses.org.

With the help of a research grant provided by the Caduceus Society of Sacred Heart, OLNM has begun developing a mentorship program for student nurses to be initiated 2010. Known as MERGE, this program discusses 12 topics that challenge new nurses as their careers take off and they transition from student nurse into registered nurse. A blog has been created for nurses to contribute their wisdom and experiences to student nurses who are soon to be participating in the program. OLNM is publishing the MERGE Mentorship Program manual now! If you have any interest in becoming a mentor, please inquire for more information at out Contact Us page.
