June 2011 Newsletter

Newsletter intro:

Hello friends and family,

This past spring has been a busy time for those of us with One Love Nursing Ministries.  Our calendar for the remainder of 2011 and into 2012 is filling up, too.

As you can see from this newsletter and our upcoming events, there are a variety of ways to become involved with our mission to unite nurses in Spirit and purpose.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to catch up with what is going on with OLNM.  We believe that you will be excited to know how God is leading us to serve the nursing profession for the glory of God!

In Spirit and purpose,

Suzie Farthing

Join One Love in England for Nurses Week 2012

ImageSave the date, One Love Nursing Ministries is planning a Nurses Heritage Trip to England during Nurses Week 2012 (May 6-12)!  We are heading across the Atlantic to the motherland of our nursing heritage where we will have many interesting excursions on our itinerary.  As it stands now we will visit a school of nursing at Oxford University, health care institutions, Florence Nightingale’s Museum, not to mention some of England’s traditional landmarks.  A main objective for the trip is to have the opportunity to extend our goodwill to English nurses while learning from their experiences within a socialized health care system.  An added bonus is that Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee (her 60th anniversary as monarch) will be during that June, so England is bond to be a buzz with celebratory activity during our visit.

Emma's Story

ImageI recently had a telephone conversation with Emma, my youngest daughter, an aspiring nurse.  She is working her way through college as a nursing assistant on a medical surgical floor.  It was later in the evening, and she had a long day at work and one of those emotionally draining patient encounters that those of us who attend patients at the bedside know well.  It was with a female patient whom she had especially grown fond of during a long arduous stay in the hospital.  The illness had taken its toll; the tough decisions had been made to make her a “No Code”.  The patient was now peacefully at the end of her life.
